If you’d like to add an image gallery, you can add multiple images to a page or post easily in one step. Just place the cursor on your page or post where you’d like the gallery to be, and click the Add Media button. You’ll see a popup window that looks the same as the one you see when you add an image to your page.
In the popup window, click the “Create Gallery” link on the left, and then select the images that you’d like to insert into your gallery. Just as with adding images, you can upload new images to use in your gallery, or you can simply choose from your previously uploaded images. By default, you’ll be shown a list of your previously uploaded images. If you’d like to upload a new image, click on the Upload Files link at the top of the popup window. Images you’ve selected for your gallery will have a checkmark in the upper right corner. After you’ve chosen your images, click the Create a new gallery button at the bottom of the popup window. Now you’ll see only the images that you’ve selected.
To reorder the images in your gallery, simply click and hold on an image and drag it to its new position. You can click each image and then update the “Title,” “Caption,” “Alt Text,” and “Description” on the right-hand side of the popup window, just like you can with single images. You can also include basic HTML, such as links, in your captions. If you decide you no longer want a certain image to appear in your gallery, click the small “-” that appears in the top right corner of the image when you hover your cursor over the “X.”
Options for displaying the gallery are on the right side of the popup window. Here are your options:
- Link to – Use this to determine what happens when an image is clicked in the gallery. “Media File” will open the full size image directly in your browser window. “Attachment Page” will open the image in a formatted page. How these options look depends on your specific template.
